Ciucurova

Ciucurova is a village and also a parish in the county of Tulcea in Romania, in the historical region Dobruja.

The name means wide level and comes from the Turkish. Turkish-speaking peasants presented when the village was part of the Sanjak of Tulcea, the main part of the population. After the annexation to Romania by the Treaty of Berlin of 1878, most Turks left the place and there were Bessarabia German and German from the Kherson region located in Russia. From these, the ethnic group of Dobrudschadeutschen that left the country in 1940 and were relocated to the German Empire developed.

Today, the village is mainly inhabited by Romanians living from agriculture. But there are also Turkish surname. There are schools, a library and a paved main road that leads to Atmagea. The old house of prayer serves as a quarry. The next secondary schools are located in Tulcea. Children who want to visit them, can live there in boarding schools.
