CIUTI

CIUTI is the abbreviation for International Conférence Permanente d' Institut Universitaires de Traducteurs et Interpreters (French for International Permanent Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters ). The aim of the merger is to enable an international collaboration between the training institutes for language mediators and thus to harmonize the training, to improve and to make practical.

The CIUTI goes back to an initiative of the corresponding University Institute in Geneva, Heidelberg, Mainz- Germersheim and Paris ( Sorbonne ) in 1960. The founding as an association (initially under the symbol CIUTI ) was carried out in 1962. The registration as an international association under Belgian law on 24 November 1994. Currently, over forty members around the world meet once a year at one of the member institutions to CIUTI General Assembly. Since 2003 (usually in January and usually at the UN in Geneva ) CIUTI a forum held annually. This is a great conference, usually with more than 200 participants from around the world are discussed on the diverse aspects of the current translation and Dolmetschmarktes and translation studies and didactics. The Organization shall, solely on institutions offering training courses for translating and / or interpreting and meet certain quality criteria. In contrast to the young EMT network of the European Commission ( European Masters ' in Translation ), which also attaches high quality criteria, but only considers the training performance of a program that requires CIUTI membership of an institution in addition to detection of services in the field of translational research. This manifests itself in the motto of the CIUTI introduced in 2011: "Excellence in T & I Training and Research".
