Civil Order of Alfonso X, the Wise

The Order of Alfonso X the Wise was by decree on April 11, 1939 by the Spanish leader Francisco Franco as a substitute for the Order of Alfonso XII. donated and is intended to reward outstanding merits in the field of research, literature and art as well as of education. Order decoration

The religious character is a golden red enameled lily cross with openwork cross arms. Carrying method

The Collar of consists of eleven black enameled eagles with outstretched wings and alternately six A ( Alfonso ) and six Roman numerals X. The Grand Cross is worn on a sash from the right to the left shoulder and a breast star of the Order of corresponding characters. Grand Officer and Commander decorated the award around his neck, Grand Officers in addition to a breast star. The Knight's Cross and the medal is worn on the belt with a buckle wear on the left chest.
