CKIX-FM

CKIX -FM is an English-language radio station in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The station broadcasts on the frequency 99.1 MHz with a power of 100,000 watts. It broadcasts a Contemporary Hit Radio format. The station is operated by Newcap Radio.

History

The station began to broadcast through CHUM Limited on 15 October 1983. Initially Country Music has been sent under the call sign CKIX -FM and the station name "Country 99 FM". The late eighties under the station name " KIX Country". Newcap took over the station and its sister channel CJYO of CHUM Limited in 1989. Through the acquisition of the brand name " KIXX Country" has been introduced. The station studios were moved in 1991 by the Duckworth Street in the 208 Kenmount Road. Today, the Capital Hotel is located in the building.
