The Trompetenflechte ( Cladonia fimbriata ) is a lichen that belongs to the genus Cladonia. It is characterized by its about 2 inches long, upright, trophy similar to the trumpet-shaped cup.

Description

The entire lichen has - even in the cup - a fine mealy, sorediöse surface. The undergraduate, gray greenish leaves are small and often only sparsely present. The hollow, about 2 inches long, light gray to greenish stems ( Podetien ) braid end rather abruptly in trophy - to funnel-shaped cup. These are wide to about 4 mm and are remarkably uniform. The spores develop into dark brown apothecia on the cup rim, which are rarely trained.

Distribution and location

The Trompetenflechte is very common and occurs in Europe before on sandy and sandy- loamy soils. Sometimes it also grows on rotten wood or at the base of tree trunks in bright, light- rich sites.
