Claes-Håkan Ahnsjö

Claes- Håkan Ahnsjö ( born August 1, 1942 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish tenor.

Life

Ahnsjö studied at the Pedagogical University in Stockholm. After his teacher's exam, he studied from 1966 to 1969 singing at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Singing lessons he took with Erik Saedén, Aksel Schiøtz, and Max Lorenz.

He had in 1969 at the Royal Opera in Stockholm as Tamino in Mozart's opera The Magic Flute his debut. From 1973 to 1999 he was under contract with the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Here he was in 1977 appointed chamber singer.

Since its inception at the Bavarian State Opera, he has had numerous guest engagements in Europe, Japan and the United States. His American debut in 1975, he celebrated at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in The Seasons by Joseph Haydn. His repertoire includes roles of Haydn, Mozart, Rossini, Verdi and Wagner.

From 1996 to 1997 was Ahnsjö professor of voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. In the years 2000 and 2001 was Claes- Håkan Ahnsjö opera director and artistic director of the Royal Opera in Stockholm.
