Cläre Tisch

Clare table, or even Clare Clare table, ( born January 14, 1907 in Elberfeld (now Wuppertal), † ( lost) November 1941 in Minsk, Belarus ) was a German economist.

Life

She was the daughter of the King James Leo Kaufmann's table and his wife Adele. They first visited the Lyceum West in Elberfeld and then the real high-school educational establishment in Unterbarmen. From 1926 she studied in Bonn, Geneva, Berlin and then again in Bonn economics. In Bonn, their teachers, among others, Arthur Spiethoff, Herbert von Beckerath and Joseph Schumpeter, in which she was awarded his doctorate in 1931 with a highly acclaimed work on the problems of economic calculation under socialism and supported the later of Harvard were from. Until her deportation she stood with him in correspondence. The thesis of the 24 -year-old is considered a " influential " ( McCraw ) and " remarkable achievement " ( Hagemann ) and makes it the forerunner of the so-called " neoclassical socialists " as Henry D. Dickinson, Oskar Lange and Abba Lerner. Friedrich August Hayek will cite their work later as well as Schumpeter in his book " Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy".

Until 1933 it was scientifically active; parallel to this, she worked as a secretary by Arthur Spiethoff.

Because of their Jewish ancestry she could not stay at the university and worked for a time as a music coach, stenographer and clerk.

From 1936 she worked in the adoption center of the Jewish Women's League in Wuppertal- Elberfeld. They had several opportunities to emigrate - perhaps because of the entrusted orphans - unused. Schumpeter had submitted for a surety bond to allow her to emigrate to the United States. On November 10, 1941 Clare table was deported together with her sisters Marie and Gerda, her brother Leo Marcus and her niece Arnhild Marcus in a group of 992 Jewish citizens of Wuppertal, Dusseldorf and Essen in the ghetto of Minsk and there probably in 1942 or 1943 murdered.

Before the house Neumarktstraße 46 in Wuppertal, where she once lived, remembers them today a " stumbling block." Also in the permanent exhibition of the Old Synagogue meeting its is thought.
