Claude Akins

Claude Marion Akins ( born May 25, 1918 in Nelson, Georgia, † January 27, 1994 in Altadena, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Akins was a tall, broad-shouldered actor, the tough guys, whether played good or evil, especially in Western and crime films. He never belonged to the first guard of Hollywood stars, but has appeared in over 100 films and dozens of television series supporting roles. His appearances in Western series contributed to its popularity. He came after the Second World War to Hollywood and played his first small role in the 1953 film adaptation of the novel From Here to Eternity. Akins was married over 40 years and father of three children.

In Germany he was known in particular for his starring role in the television series Movin 'On (1974-1976), which ran here under the title Adventures of the highway in the ARD evening program, in which he played the trucker Sonny Pruitt.

From 1979 to 1981 Akins played in 39 episodes the idiot Sheriff Elroy P. Lobo starred in the series Sheriff Lobo, a spin -off of BJ and the Bear ( 1979-1981 ).
