Claude-François Ménestrier

Claude -François Ménestrier ( born March 9, 1631 Lyon; † January 21, 1705 in Paris) was a French Jesuit theologian, philosopher and heraldry.

Menestrier occurred in 1646 in the Society of Jesus. Already fifteen years old he taught ancient languages ​​and rhetoric in Chambery, Grenoble, Lyon and Paris. When the city of Lyon in 1658 the contract was awarded to him to organize the festivities for the king's visit, these were so pompous that he had henceforth to organize the royal visits across the country. 1669-1670 led him on a journey through Germany and Italy, then he settled in Paris. From here, he made countless trips to sermons by France. He wrote a total of 83 works on various topics, and was one of the most brilliant minds of the kingdom in the 17th century.
