Claude Louis Mathieu

Claude Louis Mathieu ( born November 25, 1783 in Macon, † March 5, 1875 in Paris) was a French mathematician and astronomer.

Mathieu worked particularly on population statistics and distance determination. From 1817 he held a position at the Bureau des Longitudes. Later he became a professor at the Collège de France polytechnique in 1829 professor at the École. He was a member of the Académie des sciences.
