Claudia Schmölders
Claudia Schmölders, well Claudia Henn - Schmölders, ( born October 25, 1944 in Heidelberg ) is a German cultural studies scholar, writer and translator.
Life
Claudia Schmölders holds a degree in German philology, musicology and philosophy at universities in Cologne, Zurich, Berlin and New York. In 1973 she received her doctorate at the Free University of Berlin as a doctor of philosophy. Between 1975 and 1999 she worked as a freelance journalist, editor and editor for various publishers; next she has taught at the Universities of Cologne, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin. In 1991 she arrived, as a fellow at the Maison des Sciences de l' Homme in Paris, 1991/92 she was a Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin. In 1997 she qualified as a professor at the Humboldt University with a thesis on the history of physiognomy; since 1998 she has been a lecturer at the Cultural Science at the Humboldt University.
Claudia Schmölders deals as a scientist, among others, the history of physiognomy and courtesy in Europe. In addition, she has numerous literary anthologies as well as the series " Famous Couples " published in the Random House (30 vols ). Even as a translator of narrative literature and children's books from English they become apparent.
Since 2000 Claudia Schmölders is a member of PEN Center Germany. In 2004 she received the Heinrich Mann Prize of the Berlin- Brandenburg Academy of Arts. In 2010 she was appointed a full member of the German Academy for Language and Literature.
