Claudius of Besançon

The Holy Claudius ( * 7th century in France, † June 6 to 700 in Condat, now Saint -Claude ) was abbot of Condat and Archbishop of Besancon.

Claudius was a monk and abbot in Condat. In the year 685 he became archbishop of Besançon. Claudius was one of the most venerated saints in France. His grave was a place of pilgrimage. To date, St. Claude is a center of the toy industry.

Patronages

The saint is the patron saint of Burgundy and the occupations of the turners, pipe makers, saddlers, dealers and gingerbread toys manufacturers. He is called in convulsions and unhappiness.
