Claus Grimm

Claus Grimm ( born November 22, 1940) is a German art historian. Since its foundation from 1983 to 2007 he was director of the House of Bavarian History in Augsburg.

Life

After receiving his doctorate in 1969 and his habilitation in 1978, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Munich. 1984 he was appointed professor at the University of Konstanz. In 1990 he became an extraordinary professorship at the University of Munich. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Bavarian League.

Work

The focus of his work was the leadership of the House of Bavarian History, as its first director, he was appointed in 1983. In Grimm, the house profiled in particular with national events and didactically valuable presentations as a major educational institution. Since 1984 find annually focus Exhibitions - since 1990 Bavarian State Exhibition - held in which the cultural diversity of Bavaria and Franconia and the embedding of the history of the country is represented in the context of European history.

For its use in the representation of history, art and cultural history of Bavaria Grimm was awarded the 2006 Bavarian Order of Merit.
