, Also called Clausena lansium wampi, is a flowering plant in the family Rutaceae ( Rutaceae ). It is in Southeast Asia: native to Vietnam and the Chinese provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, southern Guizhou, Hainan, Sichuan, southeastern Yunnan.

Description

Clausena lansium are highly fragrant, evergreen trees, the plant height of 12 to a maximum of 20 meters reach. The soft and dark green leaves are imparipinnate with five to eleven leaflets. The petiole is 4 to 8 mm long. The leaflets are ovate to ovate - elliptic, 6-14 cm long and 3-6 cm wide. The midrib is often hairy.

In a terminal, aged men inflorescence end of March, the flowers appear. The flower buds are spherical. The flowers have a diameter of about 3 to 4 mm and have a double perianth. The broadly ovate calyx lobes are about 1 mm in size. The petals four to five white are about 5 mm long. There are ten stamens present. The discus is short. The hairy ovary contains several compartments ovary with two ovules. The flowering period extends from April to May

The pale yellow when ripe berry is globose, oval to broadly ovate, has a length of 1.5 to 3 cm in diameter and 1-2 cm. Each fruit contains one to five seeds that comprise about 40 to 50% of fruit volume. The fruits ripen from July to August.

System

This species was first described in 1790 by João de Loureiro as Quinaria lansium and provided by Homer Collar Skeels in the genus Clausena 1909. Other synonyms are Clausena wampi ( Blanco ) Oliver, Cookia wampi Blanco.

Use

Clausena lansium be cultivated for its fruit. They are popular in China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. Clausena lansium is grown in small numbers in India, Sri Lanka and Queensland, and sometimes in Florida and Hawaii.

They grow well under tropical or subtropical conditions and are vulnerable to cold. They prefer rich loess (clay ), but grow on different types of soils.
