Clayton is a city in Union County in the U.S. state of New Mexico in the United States with 2524 inhabitants ( 2000). Clayton is the county seat ( county seat ) of Union County.

Geography

The city is located in the east of the county in the northeast corner of New Mexico, is in the east 3km from Texas, located in the north- east 4 miles from Oklahoma and has a total area of 12.2 km ² without significant water surface.
