Clemens Ganz

Clemens Ganz ( born January 18, 1935 in Eiweiler ) is a German church musician.

Training

Quite studied church and school music at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne with Hermann Schroeder and Josef Zimmermann. He graduated from the A-exam and the concert exam.

Professional and teaching

From 1964 to 1976 he served as cantor at St. Mary's in Cologne-Kalk. From 1971 to 1998 he was a professor of organ, organ improvisation and choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne. 1985 to 2001 he served as organist at the Cologne Cathedral. Planned together with Philipp Klais and Dr. Hans -Wolfgang Theobald and organized whole the construction of the new Klais organ in the nave of Cologne Cathedral. The swallow's nest organ was inaugurated in 1998. In addition, the revision and re-establishment of the great transept organ of the Cologne Cathedral (2001/2002) goes back to his initiative and Mitplanung. From 1999 to 2011 he served as chairman of the jury for the International Organ Competition at the Hermann Schroeder Prize.
