Clementine Helm

Clementine Helm ( born October 9, 1825 Delitzsch, † November 26, 1896 in Berlin) was a widely-read children 's and teen book author in the 19th century, which has made ​​a name with a so-called flapper novel.

Life

Clementine Helm was born as the daughter of a merchant in Delitzsch. She lost her parents early and was then educated in the house of her uncle, the school board Weiss in Merseburg. Later she lived with her ​​uncle, the mineralogist Christian Samuel Weiss, in Berlin. There she attended the Royal Luisenstift and was trained as an educator. Since 1847, she was married to the geologist and paleontologist Heinrich Ernst Beyrich, with whom she also adopted the daughter of her deceased sister. Clementine Helm died only a few months after the death of her husband in 1896 in Berlin.

Clementine Helm was one of the most successful young writers in the second half of the 19th century. She wrote some 40 novels for girls. Her best known work is " Backfischchens sorrows and joys " from the year 1863. Here is the story of 15 -year-old Grete is told with a lot of love that is brought to her aunt to Berlin to learn a befitting education.
