Clock generator

At a clock is defined as a component of the write pulses in a determined frequency. It can be both a mechanical, electrical, and electronic components or assemblies. The latter are required, among others, for data processing and synchronization. In arithmetic units clocks are often combined with a control unit.

As a mechanical clock are mainly vibrations as they are realized through pendulum, springs or torsion bars. For astronomical clocks, it is the seconds pendulum, in the watches balance wheel or a quartz resonator.

Task

A timer clocked in an electronic calculator, such as an adder circuit, the calculating steps. The clock rate is measured in hertz. For processors the clock speed is a value with which you can specify the computing speed, such as 2000 Hz

Construction

The clock is often an ordinary flip-flop, as the flasher unit. The clock in watches, computers and communications equipment is usually an oscillator with a quartz oscillator, whose frequency by synthesis from higher and lower frequencies are generated.
