Clohars-Carnoët

Clohars -Carnoët ( Breton kloar - Karnoed ) is a commune in the Finistère department 4072 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Location

The place is located in South Brittany on the Atlantic coast. Quimperlé located eight kilometers north, Lorient 16 km southeast, Quimper 44 km northwest of Paris and about 450 km north-east (in straight line ). He is also the southernmost municipality of the department and is separated by the estuary Laïta the neighboring Morbihan department.

At Clohars -Carnoët include two small ports, namely Le Pouldu in the southernmost part of the Laïta estuary and Doëlan on a bay on the northern boundary of the municipality to Moëlan -sur -Mer. In particular, in the coastal areas, tourism plays a significant role.

Infrastructure

In Quimperlé and Lorient are the next departures of the highway E 60 (Brest -Nantes ) and regional stations in the predominantly parallel railway line.

The nearest regional airport is Aéroport de Lorient South Brittany in Lorient.

Personalities

The French painter Pierre Tal-Coat (1905-1985) was born in Clohars -Carnoët. The German journalist Hans Habe holds in the spring of 1939 with his Basque lover Wanda, a niece of the French journalist Jacques Laparra, in a holiday home in Le Pouldu on.
