Clomazone is a chemical compound selected from the group consisting of oxazolidinones.
Production and representation
Clomazone can be obtained by reaction of Dimethylchlormethylacetylchlorid with N-( (2-chlorophenyl ) methyl ) hydroxylamine.
Properties
Clomazone is a colorless liquid which is insoluble in water.
Use
Clomazone is used as a herbicide. The drug inhibits the formation of the leaf pigment chlorophyll.
The use of the substance as a herbicide clomazone was allowed into the EU on 1 November 2008.
In August 2011, there had been reports of health problems after using clomazonehaltiger pesticides in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern and treated in the surrounding surfaces cloudy sheet had been observed on plants. Subsequently, the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) had expressed a suspension of admission. Since the BVL looked at a connection between the reported symptoms by the question pesticides considered unlikely was lifted the suspension of the approval in January 2012 and at the same fixed modified application requirements.
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland pesticides are authorized (eg Centium CS) with this drug.
