Clorinda Corradi

Clorinda Corradi Pantanelli ( born November 27, 1804 in Urbino, † June 29, 1877 in Santiago de Chile ) was an Italian opera singer of bel canto (Alt ). She sang in operas by Donizetti, Rossini and Verdi in Italy, Spain, the United States, Cuba, Chile and Peru.

Life

Clorinda comes from a distinguished family of Urbino, who had economic problems. For this reason, she was a singer. She was born on November 27, 1804 in Urbino, the daughter of Filippo Corradi and Countess Victoria Peroli of Urbino. At age 19, she had singing lessons from the famous Filippo cellos. Your first public appearance was in 1823 in the theater of Recanati. She played the lead role in the opera L' italiana in Algeri by Gioachino Rossini. 1825 she sang in the theater of Florence pergola, followed in all major theaters of Italy. 1830, with just 26 years, she sang in the opera Il Conte Ory by Rossini in Milan Canobbiana theater. She sang with famous singers such as Duprez, Mariani and Galli.

In the fall of 1835 she moved to Cuba and sang at the famous Teatro Tacoma in Havana. From 1835 to 1840 she sang in Peru and New Orleans ( Louisiana). In 1844 she finally moved to Valparaiso in Chile and then to Santiago. In 1856 she gave up singing and became a teacher at the Conservatory of Santiago de Chile. Throughout her life she received much recognition and earned a lot of money with the singing. Nevertheless, she died on June 29, 1877 without assets.
