CLP Group

Croup CLP (CLP) is a Chinese energy company with its headquarters in Hong Kong. The company is listed on the Hang Seng Index.

The company produces and supplies electricity to its customers. CLP supplies about 80 percent of Hong Kong residents with electricity. Furthermore, supplies customers in Australia and on the mainland in China with electricity.

The company builds, among other things, a wind farm in Gujarat, India.

History

The company was founded in 1901 and began operating under the name China Light and Power Company.

1903, the first own power plant was inaugurated: In the Chatham Road in Hunghom district located it produced 75 kW. From the year 1919, the electric street lighting was operated by CLP in Kowloon.

The collaboration with the PRC began in 1979 with the networking of the network of CLP and the electricity grid of Guangdong Province. 1985 was started as a joint venture with the Guangdong Nuclear Investment Company to build a 1,968 -MW pressurized water reactor in Daya Bay. The reactor was opened in 1994.

In 1996, in a joint venture with Taiwan Cement Corporation is building a 1,320 MW coal-fired power plant in Taiwan and started the expansion into other Pacific markets. This expansion continued with the acquisition of Electricity Generating Public Company Limited ( FRANK ) in Thailand in 1998, Yallourn Energy in Australia and Gujarat Paguthan Energy Corporation Private Limited ( GPEC ) in India.

Today's CLP Holding was founded in 1998 as a holding company.
