Club 8

Club 8 is a Swedish indie pop duo from electric Stockholm.

Band History

Club 8 was founded in 1995 by Karolina Komstedt and Johan Angergård who had met as band members at Poprace and now wanted to make music together. First They made just simple recordings of their first three songs and sent them to their preferred labels, some of which showed immediate interest. Finally, they signed with the Spanish label Siesta, where soon their debut single Me Too was published. The following year her first album Nouvelle whose sound was influenced by quite Twee pop followed. In 1998 they released their second album The Friend I Once Had and the single Missing You, which became a club and radio hit in Spain and the USA. In 1999, the duo in New York for the first time to live.

The previous productions were characterized by a mix of bossa nova, tuneful guitar lines and catchy pop melodies and witnessed already of a certain musical progression of the band. 2001 brought the duo during co-founded by Johan Angergård label Labrador Records Album Club 8 out which struck through his trip-hop elements, in contrast to previous works, much more relaxed and slower tones. Love In December was the hit single from this period. In autumn 2001 the two Swedes were experimenting in the Summer Sound Studios offers a variety of styles such as bossa nova, trip-hop, dub and chillout. The two albums this most productive phase of the band were 2002 Spring Came, Rain Fell, and Strangely Beautiful in 2003, which again contained more guitar sound. In the spring of 2003 they brought to the single Saturday Night Engine out a video that was shown on MTV Nordic often and position 16 in the Up North reached Chart.

In the following years it was much quieter at Club 8, as Johan Angergård 2003 his new band The Legends founded, with the he recorded three albums between 2004 and 2006. In addition, he published in 2005 with his old band Acid House Kings Album Sing along with Acid House Kings, so that with Club 8 was only time for a few small tours in Asia and Europe. Only in 2006, the duo went back together to the studio to record the album The Boy Who Could not Stop Dreaming which was published in 2007 and was well received by critics. In 2008, the albums The Friend I Once Had, Club 8, Spring Came, Rain Fell, and Strangely Beautiful were remixed and issued by Labrador Records. In spring 2008, Club 8 and Edson went together on Southeast Asia tour and came here to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. In September 2008, the single Jesus, walk with me appeared. 2010 the duo with The People 's Record again brought out an album, which received moderate to good reviews.
