Club Atlético Belgrano

Club Atlético Belgrano is a sports club from the Argentine city of Córdoba. He is known primarily for its football division, his first team currently plays in the first Argentine league, La Liga.

Nickname of the club are Los Piratas (Spanish for the pirates ) or Los Celeste ( the light blue ).

History

The club was founded on 19 March 1905 by a group of young people who named it after the historic personality Manuel Belgrano and the colors of the Argentine flag took over, which was designed by Belgrano.

In 1908 the football team on the game mode in the second division of Córdoba. After she had won the championship three times in this league, they rose to the first division. In the league of Cordoba Belgrano won all the championships 1929-1937, with the exception of 1934, when Talleres won the title, and in 1940, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1957.

In 1968 the team for the first time at a national championship and arrived in 1986, the second Argentine league. 1992-1996 and 1998-2002 Belgrano played in the first division, but had now risen again from the second division. Stadium Julio César Villagra

The stadium of Belgrano, the Estadio Julio César Villagra is popularly called Gigante de Alberdi ( German: Der Riese Alberdi ). It is in Alberdi district west of the city center. It was completed on 17 March 1929 and belonged to the first built of cement stadiums in Argentina. In 1997, the stadium was renovated to meet the new requirements for Argentina's first and second league meet. It has a capacity of approximately 28,000 people, making it the third largest football stadium in the city of Córdoba after the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes, Estadio Presidente Perón and the Instituto ACC.
