Club Olimpia

The Club Olimpia is a football club from Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.

The club was founded on 25 July 1902. The club colors are black and white. Currently the club is without president. Trainer is the Uruguayan Ever Hugo Almeida.

The home club's stadium is the Estadio Manuel Ferreira with a capacity of 22,000 seats. Significant games are out, however, in the larger Estadio Defensores del Chaco, which can accommodate 45,000 spectators and whose name is reminiscent of the Chaco War between Paraguay and Bolivia.

Achievements

Olimpia won so far 39 national championships, the last one in 2011. Internationally, you could once ( 1980), the Copa Interamericana, once ( 1979) the World Cup twice (1990, 2003), the Recopa Sudamericana, once ( 1990), the Supercopa Sudamericana and three times (1979, 1990, 2002) to win the most important South American club competition, the Copa Libertadores.

The Club Olimpia is the only team that could reach the finals in each decade of the Copa Libertadores (1960, 1979, 1989, 1990, 1991, 2002, 2013). In addition to the Sao Paulo Olimpia is the only club to have won both the Copa Libertadores and the Super Copa Sudamericana in the same year ( 1990 Olimpia, São Paulo, 1993).
