Codex Sangallensis

As Codex Sangallensis manuscripts collection of codices Sangallenses are called, which are preserved in the Abbey Library of St. Gallen. They are further defined in the specification of their signature or by a conventional in science nickname.

Signature scheme

The usual signature of a Codex in this collection is Cod Sang. with a continuous up to four digit number in Arabic numerals. Some of the codices carry because of their particular importance are other names by which they are known in some cases far better (example: the Abrogans is actually Cod Sang 911. ). The finest illuminated manuscripts from the Abbey Library, dating from the 8th to the 11th century. be or are already part of the project Digital Abbey Library of St. Gallen / codices Electronici Sangallenses ( CESG ) digitized. These digital copies are freely accessible on the Internet. On 21 December 2010 400 manuscripts were digitized.
