Colin Wood

Colin Arthur Wood ( born June 15, 1943 in Camberwell ) is a British jazz and studio musician ( piano, organ, flute).

Wood spent his childhood in 1959 in Wells, Somerset. He learned on the piano against the resistance of his surroundings a little boogie and jazz and played already as a student in local bands. Between 1962 and 1965 he studied at Durham University mathematics, but was also active in student bands. After graduating in 1966 he moved back to London, where he played with Bill Niles Delta Jazz Band and with Whistling Jack Smith went on tour, before joining Monty Sunshine 1968. He was also active as a studio musician and played for the Yardbirds as well as Cat Stevens, Kevin Coyne Siren or for Uriah Heep (Very ' eavy ... Very ' umble ). After working on a cruise ship with the band by Bill Nile he gave in 1969 to record the music to act as a mathematics teacher. In September 1977 he then joined Acker Bilk, in whose band he was more than thirty years working. Occasionally, he also worked with Wild Bill Davison, George Masso, Billy Butterfield, Kenny Davern, Ken Peplowski, and with musicians from the camp of the British modern jazz as Ray Warleigh, Lol Coxhill, Jim Mullen, Henry Lowther or Dick Morrissey. He is also a member of the Pete Allen Jazz Band.

Wood is not to be confused with the cellist of free improvisation music.
