Collanos

Collanos Workplace is a free software to support teamwork. In a global collaborative network Collanos team to connect directly with each other without having to need a server. Development is the Collanos Workplace Collanos Software.

The program allows teams, common storage areas for project information ( workspaces ) to create and free to organize. It supports both structured and unstructured data (tasks, notes, discussions, documents and files of any type ).

Available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux Collanos Workplace allows teams collaboration across platforms.

In contrast to pure online Teamwork Solutions team information is available even without an internet connection is available and can be edited offline. Once the computer from team members are online, their workspaces synchronize with each other. Team data is only held on the computers of team members.

With team support with no additional server or IT infrastructure requirements Collanos will enable the professional cooperation of ad hoc teams in cross-company projects and outside the corporate context.

History

Collanos Software was founded in November 2003 in Zurich ( Switzerland ) by Franco Dal Molin, after he had sold the he founded Object Solutions at GFT Technologies., Which is based solely on nearshoring in Ukraine and Bulgaria development has been funded by family, friends and angel investors.

The name is of Collanos collaboration and the Greek word nous ( mind, reason ) derived.

On 19 June 2006, the first beta version of Collanos Workplace 1.0 was launched in English on the market.

The definitive version of Collanos Workplace 1.0 was released on 13 December 2006.

A jury will select Collanos Software on 14 December 2006 for the first time in the published cash from Switzerland Magazine Top 50 List venture.

A first German version was available on 8 February 2007. Shortly thereafter won Collanos Software with Collanos Workplace 1.0 at CEBIT in Hannover ( Germany ) Innovation Award ICT 2007 in the category office organization.

On 15 May 2007, the version 1.1 of the product, which allows a new, centralized directory service Collanos users to be part of a global collaborative network appeared. In addition Collanos appeared also in Chinese.

In USA Collanos Software is nominated as one of three collaboration software vendors as a candidate for the Emerging Tech Award 2007 of the Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal on November 2, 2007.

The first beta version of the free Collanos Phone 1.0 was released on January 6, 2008 on the market.

Functions

With Collanos Workplace teams can share documents within minutes, lead online discussions, and manage team tasks. Team data are stored in workspaces freely structured exclusively on the computers of team members.

Each team member can see on the Internet at any time, who is by his colleagues online. With online colleagues directly messages can be exchanged.

Teams to work together across platforms between Windows, Mac and Linux computers, both online on the Internet as well as offline.

Templates for industry specific content as well as a dedicated tool for creating them are provided.

Architecture

The technology is based on a multi- p2p network is developed using Java and is based on open source components such as JXTA ( Juxtapose ) peer -to-peer architecture and Eclipse.

Traffic, such as data storage, be protected by AES 256 encryption.
