Collide (band)
Collide is a U.S. Trip-Hop-/Synth-Rock-Duo, supported among others by Danny Carey of the Group tool on the album Some Kind of Strange ( 2003).
Band History
Statics published in 1988 a solo EP. His partner Karin he first met in a nightclub. After the two had better come to know, they wanted to make music together. To this end, they formed the band Collide. While static is responsible for the music, Karrin care of the vocals and the lyrics.
The first demo The Crimson Trial was published in 1995. 's Debut album Beneath the Skin was released in two versions, one for the European market, which was initially only available as an import. Later, a version followed for the American market, however, had a different track list. U.S. sales took Cargo Records, while the German version of SPV was expelled. Appeared in 1998, the remix album Distort. For the albums partially guest musicians are involved.
The duo released from the 2000 work Chasing the Ghost all other albums on their own record label Noise Music Plus. There are also the project The Secret Meeting, which statics and Karin founded together with Dean Garcia of Curve appeared.
Was published in 2009 These Eyes before, a cover CD on which, among other things known songs Creep by Radiohead and Space Oddity by David Bowie is heard.
The duo is also responsible for the programmings Tools Undertow and Lateralus in addition to official projects. Likewise, various well-known artists such as Charlie Clouser are represented on their remix albums.
During the discography a clear trend from the beginning still very electro - influenced music can be seen towards a more multi-faceted, more rock style of music. Explained this is due to the increasing collaboration with guest musicians, such as drummer Danny Carey of Tool and guitarist Scott country of U.S. rock band Mankind is Obsolete.
Music style
The duo mixed elements of trip-hop, dark wave and techno. At the same time they make use of the music of the Middle East. Lyrically they use in the tales of the Arabian Nights.
