Colombier-Fontaine

Colombier- Fontaine is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Colombier- Fontaine is located at 302 m, about 10 km southwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the Doubs Valley on the left (south ) side of the river, on the northern edge of the outermost ridges of the Jura.

The area of ​​7.66 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Doubstals. The northern boundary runs along the Doubs, which flows here in an approximately 1.5 -mile-wide flat Talniederung to the west and is accompanied by the waterways of the Rhine- Rhone Canal. In Colombier- Fontaine, the two short side streams Bié and Ruisseau du Rorbe flow into the channel. From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over the floodplain and a 100 m high, steep wooded slope to the adjacent panel Jura plateau, which is largely covered by meadows and pastures. On this plateau, in the Bois du Plénot, the highest elevation of Colombier -Fontaine is achieved with 474 m. The eastern boundary runs erosion valley of Combe d' Étouvans.

History

The territory of Colombier- Fontaine was settled very early. There were remains from the periods from the Neolithic to the Roman period found.

The first written mention of Colombier was in 1147 in a deed of the Archbishop of Besançon, in the Priorat Lanthenans confirms the possession of the Church in Columbeyr Superiori. For later times the names Colombie Saveroux ( 1284), Colombier Savoreux are (15th century), Colombier- Savoureux ( 1494), Colobie Savereux ( 1544) and handed down since the 18th century Colombier- Fontaine.

In the Middle Ages Colombier belonged to the rule Châtelot that came by purchase under the protection of the Counts of Montbéliard in 1561. In the winter of 1587/88, the village was destroyed during the invasion of the Guises. During the Thirty Years' War it was again drawn 1633-1637 affected. With the Treaty of Versailles in 1748 Colombier came to France.

In the 19th century, the development began to industrial community. The opening of the railway from Montbéliard to Besançon in 1858 contributed to the development of the region. Attractions

The Protestant Church (Temple) of Colombier -Fontaine was built in the 17th century in a classic style in a slightly elevated position south of the village. At the beginning of the 20th century the village was also a Catholic church.

Population

With 1374 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Colombier- Fontaine is one of the smaller communities of the department of Doubs. Especially at the beginning of the 20th century and from 1950 to 1975 saw the community strong growth rates. However, since 1990, the population remains at an approximately constant level.

Economy and infrastructure

Since the mid -19th century is Colombier- Fontaine influenced by commercial and industrial. Among the major companies now include a steel foundry, a chair factory and a sawmill. In addition, there are now various operations of the local small business sector and the retail trade. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and agglomeration in Montbéliard.

The village has good transport links. It is located on a secondary road that leads from L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs after Voujeaucourt. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 10 km. Further road links exist with Lougres, Étouvans, Écot and Villars -sous- Écot. Colombier- Fontaine has a station on the railway line Dole - Besançon -Montbéliard - Belfort.
