Colonia Independencia

Independencia is a district in the department Guairá and a German colony in Paraguay with 5600 inhabitants. The area is located approximately 180 kilometers east of Asunción.

Independencia was founded in 1919 by winemakers from Baden, and was long a major wine growing area.
