Comandante Fontana

Comandante Fontana is the capital of the department of Patiño in the province of Formosa in the north of Argentina. It is located 184 km from the provincial capital Formosa to which it is connected via the Ruta Nacional 81. In the classification of municipalities in the province it belongs to the municipalities ( municipality ) of the third category.

History

The area of ​​today's Comandante Fontana was originally territory of Matacos who resisted the Spanish conquerors. In 1781 it came to the killing of 65 warriors, 13 women and 12 children.
