Comarca de Antequera

The comarca of Antequera is one of the six Comarcas in the province of Málaga. It was, like all Comarcas in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, furnished with effect from 28 March 2003. However, the comarca has only the function of planning regions for tourism and the development of sports facilities.

Located in the north of the province Comarca comprises 21 municipalities with 117 356 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013), or about 7% of the province 's population. Around one third of the population accounted for by the name -giving city of Antequera.
