Combo drive

A combo drive or Combo Drive is a DVD and CD -ROM drive, the read DVDs and CD -ROMs, but can only CD -R and CD - RW disc. The term is now also used for Blu-ray drives, read the Bluerays and DVDs, but can describe only DVDs.

The word Combo Drive was originally used by Apple for its own series, but was later adopted by other manufacturers. Apple refers to a drive that can burn DVDs, as SuperDrive.

Often, these combos can not read all DVDs correctly also. In particular it was reported that home-burned DVDs could not be read.
