Come Blow Your Horn (film)

Could speak If my bedroom is an American comedy film from the year 1963 by Bud Yorkin. The screenplay is based on a play by Neil Simon.

Action

Buddy Baker is leaving the house of his Jewish parents. He is looking at his living in Manhattan brother Alan, who did not expect him. Alan is a fun-loving bachelor who does not tolerate any influence of his work on his private life. Alan supports Buddies quest for independence. He dresses him a new and shows him the nightlife of New York.

Mr. Baker is disappointed in Alan's life changing. He is also upset that Alan has screwed up an important business. Buddy turns out to be very apt pupil. Soon he has used up Alan's alcohol supplies. In addition, he begins to meet with Alan's girlfriends. After Alan, lost to Buddy his girlfriend Peggy, who lives above him and was beaten by the husband of another friend, he gets scared a right relationship to strive for. This in turn upset his new girlfriend Connie.

Soon Alan is clearly the futility of his previous life change. He tries to dissuade from drinking buddy, but enjoying life to the fullest. The quarrel of the brothers leaves Alan with regard to women to rethink. He returns to Connie and marries her. After the wedding, he learns that his mother has separated from his father because of his bad temper. Alan uses and achieved that reconcile his parents again. In addition, a brilliant business deal he succeeds. His bachelor apartment he bequeathed to his enraptured brother Buddy.

The Variety described the film as superficial but entertaining romp.

Bosley Crowther of The New York Times, however, speaks of insipid boredom that infested the viewer. The unimaginative presentation was the worst part of the film. Yorkins lack of pace come to the Tappsigkeit the actor.

Toni Mastoianni of the " Cleveland Press," writes that the weighting of the film lies on the conversation, and here the film is successful.

Channel 4 criticized the film trust too much the stereotypes and the disgusting poor female characters.

Awards

The production received four nominations for the Golden Globe in the category Best Actor in a Comedy ( Frank Sinatra ), Best Actress in a Comedy ( Molly Picon and Jill St. John ) and Best Supporting Actor (Lee J. Cobb).

Lee J. Cobb reached at the award ceremony of the Laurel Awards for Best Supporting Actor in third.

Background

The film premiered on June 5, 1963 in the U.S. and came on 30 August of the same year in the German cinemas. On German television, it was also broadcast under the title Buddy and the sweet life.

The play on which the film is based, was first performed on February 22, 1961 on Broadway. This was followed by 677 performances. The play was Neil Simon's first big Broadway success. The film is the first-time film adaptations of a piece by Neil Simon.

Guest appearances took off writer Norman Lear and Dean Martin.

Curiously, Lee J. Cobb, who played the film 's father, only four years older than his son, Frank Sinatra movie. The turn was 25 years older than his brother Tony Bill film, who made his screen debut in this film. For director Yorkin it was the first movie.

For the interior of the film attended Hal Pereira, Sam Comer, Roland Anderson and James W. Payne. The costumes by Edith Head.
