Comet in Moominland (film)

Comet in Moominvalley (Japaneseムーミン 谷 の 彗星, Mūmindani no suisei ) is an anime film from 1992, based on the novel Comet in Moominvalley from the Moomin series by Tove Jansson.

Action

Unusual things happen in Moomin Valley and a philosophical muskrat predicts a major catastrophe. Moomin, Sniff and small Mü go to the lonely mountains to visit the observatory and to ask what actually passing the ordinary. Along the way they encounter sniffer, who takes her on the way there. Once there, they learn that a comet is on the way to Moominvalley and is expected to arrive in two days. They are on their way home and meet Snork Snork Maiden and which must save them from a carnivorous plant, and take it with you into the Moomin Valley. The heat of the comet has made the sea disappear. In the Moomin Valley arrived they see all the inhabitants except Muminmama and Muminpapa flee. On the way Moomin, Snork, inhalants, Snork Maiden and small Mü Hemuli they take also meet. In Moominhouse arrived, all immediately go into a cave Sniff has found to get to safety before the comet. Production and publication

The anime was produced in 1992 from the studios TeleScreen and Visual 80 in Japan. Directed by Hiroshi Saitō, from a screenplay by Akira Miyazaki. The music was composed by Sumio Shiratori. Yasuhiro Nakura was character designer and the artistic director Jiro Kono was responsible.

On August 8, 1992, the film was released in Japanese theaters. The Finnish premiere was followed by April 2, 1993. Thereafter, the film into Polish, Swedish, Danish and Estonian was translated.
