Comet Skjellerup–Maristany

C/1927 X1 ( Skjellerup - Maristany ) (formerly 1927 IX or 1927k ) was a Great Comet, which was very bright in 1927. It was discovered independently by two astronomers John Francis Skjellerup in Australia on 28 November 1927 by Edmundo Maristany on 6 December 1927 in Argentina.

Noteworthy was the strong yellowish color of the comet, which was caused by the emission of sodium atoms.
