Community and Public Sector Union

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU ) is a trade union in Australia for workers in the public sector. This union was the merger of the Public Sector, Professional, Scientific, Research, Technical, Communication, Aviation and Broadcasting Union (PSU ) established on 1 July 1994 with the State Public Services Federation ( SPSF ). The CPSU is one of the largest trade union in Australia of about 160,000 members. The CPSU is divided into two areas, in the SPSF Group with 100,000 employees in the state sector, research institutions and universities, and in the PSU Group with 60,000 employees of the Federal Government and state governments.

SPSF Group

The State Public Services Federation was registered on 30 July 1976 as a trade union and was responsible for only a small portion of state employees and only when it changed its status in 1984, she was able to combine with Public Service Association of New South Wales, which in 1999 100 years in the public service of New South Wales existierte.Mit the state employees in Victoria, the SPSF Group has developed into a national wide active union.
