Community of Democratic Choice

The Community for democratic election ( Community of democratic choice; CDC ) is an international organization that was founded on December 2, 2005 by nine post-communist transition countries in Kiev. The aim of the organization is to support the democratic movements in the region.

History

The Community for democratic election (CDC ) has, as a predecessor organization, the organization GUUAM, from which, after the exit of Uzbekistan, the GUAM States. The establishment of the CDC goes back to an initiative of the Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. In the so -called declaration of Borjomi in August 2005 they declared the intention to establish a community of democratic choice.

During a conference on the first and second day of December, 2005 in Kiev was signed by the states of Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Slovenia and Ukraine, the Kyiv Declaration, which is the basis of the CDC. As an observer of the conference was attended by delegations from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, the USA, some EU Member States and the OSCE.

Objectives

The Community for democratic elections as the main objective the support of the democracy movements of the Baltic - Black Sea region. She looks at herself doing itself as a forum for the mutual exchange of state and non - state actors. So you want to not only improve the democratic movements in the Member States and cooperation between themselves, but also skip the processes on the entire region.

Vilnius Conference 2006

The Conference of CDC in Vilnius was observed by guests from Europe and the USA. The event was held under the theme 'Shared Visions for a common neighborhood ' (Common Visions for a common neighborhood ). Largely unnoticed by the Western European media conference in Russia and Belarus was recorded mainly due to the criticisms of the American Vice - President. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili announced during the event that the CDC medium receives a fixed organizational structure. During the conference, but no representatives of Macedonia and Slovenia were represented.
