Computable Document Format ( CDF) is a system developed by Wolfram Research Document Format for interactive documents. CDF is intended to serve several functions: All content elements that belong together a project theme, action, etc., should be stored in a document ( All-in -One format). The contents of a CDF document is not only static but dynamic and be interactive (Live Interactive Content ), the user is existing computational examples, for example, can be supplemented with self-selected parameters to own calculations.

Create CDF documents

To create CDF documents you need Mathematica. However, it is planned to provide online tools for creating CDF documents.

Read CDF documents

CDF documents can be read with Mathematica.

Furthermore Wolfram Research offers for reading CDF documents the CDF Player free for download. The CDF Player includes the full runtime library (runtime library) by Mathematica. This allows, in contrast to static document formats such as PDF or predefined dynamic documents, such as Adobe Flash, the document content dynamically depending on the behavior and to generate the user's input and to use all algorithms and visualization methods, which can be written in Mathematica.

The CDF Player supports browser plug- ins for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari, so that content from CDF documents can be integrated into web pages.
