Con O'Kelly

George Cornelius "Con" O'Kelly ( born October 29, 1886 in Gloun, County Cork, Ireland, † November 3, 1947 in Kingston upon Hull) was an Irish wrestler and Olympic champion in London in 1908 in free style at heavyweight.

Career

O'Kelly came from Cork in Ireland, then part of the United Kingdom. He started as a teenager with the rings in free style. In 1906 he was behind Edward Barrett British Vice- heavyweight champion and won the British Championship title in the heavyweight division in 1907.

1908 O'Kelly was in the Olympics (OS) in London used in the heavyweight division, where she won with superior shoulder four wins the gold medal ahead of Norway's Jacob Gundersen and Edward Barrett.

International success

1908, Gold Medal, OS in London, free style, Heavyweight ( over 73 kg body weight), with victories over Lee Talbot, USA, Il Foskett and Edward Barrett, both of Great Britain, and Jacob Gundersen, Norway.
