Concepción is a city in the province of Concepción in the Junín Region in the Central Peruvian Andes.

Location

Concepción is located northeast of the Rio Mantaro. After Huancayo in the southeast is approximately 50 km to the northwest Jauja is an airfield in 60 km distance.

History

The town was founded by the Spanish conquerors on 8 December 1537. In the history of Peru Concepcion plays a role, as on 9 and 10 July 1882 indented Chilean Army near the Plaza de Armas experienced a severe setback. Since 2000, Concepcion implements the policies of the Centro de Protección Ecoturistico to environmental protection and is now a leader in the recycling of solid waste.
