Concertino (group)
As Concertino ( Italian: small concert ) is called the solo instrumental group acting in the Baroque. It occurs mainly in the concerto grosso and the Sinfonia Concertante. In the Concerto grosso it is contrasting the full orchestra ( Ripieno, ie the Tutti ) and greater instrumental group against which represents the actual concerto grosso.
In the original Italian concerto grosso the Concertino is often mostly of strings, in Germany from brass.
