Concerto Palatino

The Concerto Palatino was for several centuries a wind ensemble and a municipal facility in Bologna. Concerto Palatino was founded in the early 13th century, first as an ensemble of eight trumpeters. In the 15th century it was added to the cast trumpets. Between 1537 and 1779 there was a cast of eight trumpets, shawm (later tines ), four trombones, two violas and historical percussion Intrum ducks. A large part of the repertoire was a spiritual nature. This is due to the fact that the instruments used were an integral part of the musical embodiment of festive worship until the 18th century.

The ensemble today

In 1986, the cornettists Bruce Dickey and Charles Toet founded the ensemble for historical performance practice, under the name Concerto Palatino. The selection of pieces and instruments especially the prongs and Baroque trumpets new honors and makes the hitherto little-known music to a broader audience accessible.
