Conchita MartÃnez
Conchita Martínez Bernat ( born April 16, 1972 in Monzón, Huesca Province ) is a former Spanish tennis player. She won the 1994 Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon and could always hold 1989-1998 in the top ten of world tennis rankings.
Career
Martínez began her professional career in 1988. 1991 she won with the Spanish team the Fed Cup with a 2-1 victory over the United States.
In 1992 she won the silver medal in women's doubles at the Olympic Games in Barcelona with Arantxa Sánchez Vicario. In the finals they lost Gigi Fernandez and Mary Joe Fernandez.
In 1993 she was again involved in the Spanish Fed Cup victory, as the team triumphed 3-0 over Australia.
Your greatest triumph won Martínez 1994, when they defeated in the singles final of Wimbledon Martina Navratilova 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3. Besides, she was again in the Fed Cup victory of their country involved (3-0 in the final against the United States).
