Connellsville is a city in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

Geographical Location

The community has about 9,000 inhabitants and is part of Fayette County. On the banks of the Youghiogheny River, it is located at the north end of Chestnut Ridge, about 90 kilometers southeast of Pittsburgh.

Railway

Connellsville became known as a railway node: Here the main route from Pittsburgh bifurcates into two strands. The southern branch was built by the Western Maryland Railway ( WMR ) and ends in Baltimore. The northern branch belonged to the New York Central Railroad and ends in Manhattan. Both railroads are still considered the backbone of the Pennsylvanian coal and Erztransports to and from Pittsburgh.

In Connellsville some Mallet steam locomotives of the legendary series H8 of Western Maryland Railway were stationed from 1914.

Highway

Connellsville is located just off Route 119, the southwest through West Virginia into Kentucky Greensburg consist of up to Pineville.
