Conrad III, Duke of Carinthia

Conrad III. of Carinthia ( Kuno ) ( † 1061 ) was of 1056 / 57-1061 nominally Duke of Carinthia and Margrave of Verona.

He came from the house of Hezeliniden, a branch of the Ezzonen. His father was Count of Hezel Zuelpich, his mother was a sister of Emperor Conrad II (?), And he was a brother of Henry I, Count Palatine of Lorraine, " the madman ."

Although he is the uprising of 1055 Konrad I of Bavaria and Welf III. against Emperor Henry III. involved had, he was taken up again in grace and in 1056 was entrusted by Empress Mother Agnes with the Duchy of Carinthia.

There he failed all his life to take control of Carinthia, because the long-established Eppensteiner under Markwart IV were too powerful.

It is not even certain that Konrad has ever entered Carinthian ground. He already died in the year 1061.
