The Consol Energy Center is a multi-purpose hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She stands since its opening in August 2010, the hockey franchise of the Pittsburgh Penguins and since March 2011 the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League are available.

With the construction of the new multi-function hall, which succeeds the Mellon Arena was that owners could prevent a relocation of the Penguins to another city for at least 30 years.

History

The plans for the Consol Energy Center began several years before the groundbreaking ceremony. In March 2007, the city and the owner agreed on the financing of the new building to be environmentally friendly. Construction began on 14 August 2008, the new multi-purpose hall is close to the Mellon Arena. In December of that year, the Penguins announced that they have the coal company CONSOL Energy Inc. bound as a name for the next 21 years.
