Constructions industrielles de la Méditerranée

The Industrial Constructions de la Méditerranée ( CNIM ) is a French engineering company with headquarters in Paris.

History

The origins of CNIM date back to the year 1856. At that time the Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée (FCM ), a French company, very modern combat and armored ships produced for that time came. In 1917, FCM also began production of tanks.

Due to the sharp decline in demand for combat ships and accordingly worse business situation FCM was taken over in 1966 by the Herlicq group and renamed Constructions Navales et de la Méditerranée Industrial, the name from which the current company name CNIM was born. CNIM has since specialized in the manufacture of specialist vessels such as liquefied natural gas and oil transport ships. At the same time diversifying into various other areas of business was continued.

CNIM was new trades under the name Industrial Constructions de la Méditerranée in 1982 and operating since the expansion of the company's energy and Mechanical Engineering ahead.

In 1989 the acquisition of Babcock Entreprise, 1990, the company Babcock Wanson, and 2001, the LAB SA was taken. Since 2002, the CNIM is also part of the former business of electricity generation by incineration of Alstom.
