Contemporary circus

Contemporary circus or cirque nouveau, originally known in French -speaking countries, is a genre of performing arts in the late 20th century, in which a story or a topic is represented by traditional circus arts.

History

In the 1960s, the traditional circus registered a decline in its prestige and popularity, as well as many circus companies associated revenue. The public nature of the society in Western Europe was increasingly concerned about animal rights in the circus and became interested in alternative forms of entertainment. In France and some other industrialized countries was around 1970 a new form of circus where you aufführte with theatrical and acrobatic aspects as well as live performance, ideas that have been known as Cirque Nouveau and contemporary circus. By means of these performances was found partially as a new form and way, again greater interest in the audience for the circus and to win her back.

Characteristics

The so-called extreme Circus (Extreme Circus) is a special type of contemporary circus, a high-performance and street -inspired genre whose aesthetics with even more free forms and larger improvisational content. As a music and hip hop, virtuoso percussion instruments and [ beat boxing ] are used.
